Topics Covered

The Post Hole is all about Archaeology! We do not have a focus on any particular topic or area, however the theme so far has been focused on archaeology in the present day, heritage management, the media and projects around York. That is not to say that's all we want - if you fancy writing for us, have a look at the following for ideas:

• Your personal experiences working in or studying a particular area, period, site or landscape.
• Opinion and discussion on any current debates in commercial, academic or "amateur" archaeology, heritage management or archaeological science.
• Advice or information for those with an interest in a particular area - had a good or bad experience with a particular institution, tourist attraction, career, employer or area of study and want to help others make the most of it?
• Projects you are currently working on - tell people about how cool your research is!
• Any topical events in the news such as union action, debate on employment conditions, commercial or government projects etc.
• "Primer" guides to help people get to grips with a particular archaeological topic quickly, perhaps including recommended reading or web browsing.
• Reviews of anything archaeological you could possibly review (although books and papers would be a good start!)
• Lamentations of continuing failures in policy and suggestions on how the world might be put to rights.

We do not currently allow any kind of commercial advertising, nor are we sponsored. If you have a genuinely relevant project for which you could do with some volunteer help, and you think our readership might be interested in the experience then you are encouraged to enquire. In this situation we are far more likely to be able to include such requests if they are in the form of an interesting and engaging article describing your work!
